A home horoscope is a chart cast for a meaningful moment in a property's life, such as the day you took the keys or first moved in, and read alongside your own birth chart. Together they show how you and the space interact, and they guide practical changes using Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui.

What a home horoscope actually is

In Vedic astrology, any beginning can have a chart: a marriage, a business, a journey. A chart is simply a map of where the planets stood at a particular moment, seen from a particular place. Applying the same idea to a house is a natural step. The moment the home began for you becomes its birth time, and the address becomes its birthplace.

Which moment is used varies between traditions. Some astrologers take completion day, when the keys changed hands. Others prefer the griha pravesh, the house-warming ceremony at which a family formally enters a new home, often on a carefully chosen date. Why the house's chart differs from yours

Your birth chart describes you: temperament, strengths, the timing of your own life chapters. The home's chart describes the character of the space and the timing of its story. Two families can live in identical flats on the same street and experience them quite differently, partly because they moved in at different moments and partly because they bring different charts through the door.

How a home horoscope is read with your birth chart

This is the idea behind our home sessions: the house has a horoscope of its own, and it is read together with yours. In practice I work with three layers at once:

1. The home's chart. Particular attention goes to the fourth house, which in both Vedic and Western astrology relates to home, roots and inner security, and to the planets influencing it.
2. Your chart. Your own fourth house, the Moon (emotional comfort and belonging) and the planetary period, or dasha, you are currently running.
3. The physical layout. Vastu Shastra's directional zones and Feng Shui's flow of qi show how rooms are placed and used day to day.

The useful advice comes from where these layers meet. Suppose the home's chart leans towards rest and privacy, while your current period asks for focus and study. Attention might then go to where the desk sits and how the study corner is lit, rather than to the bedroom. The charts point to priorities; Vastu and Feng Shui turn those priorities into things you can move, clear or light.

What to prepare for the reading

Details about you

Bring your date, time and place of birth, and those of anyone else in the household who would like to be included. If you are unsure of your birth time, read our note on an astrology reading without an exact birth time; there is still plenty to work with.

Details about the home

• The address, or at least the town, because the chart depends on location.
• The date, and time if known, of the moment we will use for the home.
• A floor plan or hand sketch with north marked; a phone compass is accurate enough.
• A short list of what you would like to change or understand.

If you only know the date you moved in

Many people remember the day but not the hour. A date alone still places the slower-moving planets accurately, and the reading leans more on your own chart and the layout. It is worth checking old emails from your solicitor or removal firm, which often record the time keys were released.

What a home horoscope can and cannot tell you

A home horoscope is a tool for reflection and practical adjustment. It can highlight which areas of the home deserve attention, which rooms may suit which purpose, and when might be a good time to make changes. It does not predict house prices, health, sale outcomes or anything that belongs with a surveyor, doctor or financial adviser, and no reading can promise that a home will bring a particular result.
