Will my relationship last? Astrology cannot give a yes-or-no verdict on that, and anyone who promises one is claiming more than a chart can deliver. What a careful comparison of two birth charts can show is how each person meets the other's needs, where friction tends to repeat, and which periods ask more of the partnership.

If this question is already keeping you up at night, you can send it to us through the enquiry form with both sets of birth details, and we will suggest whether a single written answer or a full session fits it better.

Will my relationship last? What astrology can and cannot see

People usually type this question at a particular moment: after an argument that felt different, during a long-distance stretch, or when one partner starts talking about moving in, marrying or moving abroad. The worry is understandable. The honest response is to separate what the charts describe from what only the two of you decide.

What a chart comparison can describe

Two charts read side by side show temperament and timing. They can describe how each of you handles conflict, what makes each of you feel secure, how quickly you each recover after a disagreement, and whether your natural rhythms run in step or out of step. They can also show which themes are likely to come up again and again, which is often more useful than any score.

What it cannot decide

A chart does not know whether you both keep choosing each other. It cannot measure effort, honesty, kindness or the outside pressures you face. Two people with demanding contacts between their charts can build something steady, and two people with easy contacts can drift apart because nobody tends the relationship. Astrology describes the terrain; you walk it.

The chart factors that speak to staying power

In Vedic astrology, no single placement settles the matter. An experienced reader looks at a cluster of factors and how they agree or disagree.

The seventh house and its ruler

The seventh house describes partnership in each chart: what you look for, what you project onto a partner and how you behave once committed. Its ruling planet, and where that planet sits, adds detail. If you want the background, our guide to the seventh house in Vedic astrology explains it in more depth.

Venus, the Moon and emotional rhythm

Venus shows how each person gives and receives affection. The Moon shows emotional needs and how each of you settles after stress. When one partner's Moon sits comfortably with the other's, everyday life often feels easier, even when outward styles differ. When the Moons clash, small moments of misunderstanding can pile up unless both people learn to name what they need.

Saturn contacts: the glue and the weight

Saturn is often described as the planet of commitment and time. Contacts between one person's Saturn and the other's personal planets can bring a sense of seriousness, loyalty and responsibility that holds a couple together through hard years.

When Saturn feels heavy rather than steadying

The same contacts can feel like criticism or restriction, especially early on. A reading looks at whether the Saturn person tends to support or to judge, and whether the other partner feels held or hemmed in. That difference matters far more than the contact itself.

Kundli matching scores in context

Families planning a marriage often ask about Ashtakoot, the traditional Vedic points system out of 36. It compares the two Moon signs and nakshatras across eight categories. It is a useful starting point but a narrow one, because it says nothing about the rest of either chart. A middling score with supportive planetary contacts can describe a sound partnership; a high score with tense contacts can still involve real work.

Timing: a hard year is not the end of the story

Often the question of whether a relationship will last is really a question about a difficult season. Each of you runs your own sequence of planetary periods, known as dashas, and slow-moving planets such as Saturn shift through the sky over months and years. When one partner enters a demanding period, the relationship can feel strained even if the bond itself is sound.

Seeing that a pressure point belongs to a particular chapter can change how you handle it. Instead of reading every tense week as a sign of doom, you can ask what this phase is teaching each of you, and what support the other person needs while it lasts.

Questions worth bringing to a compatibility reading

You get the most from a session when you arrive with specific questions rather than a single "will it work?" A few that tend to open up useful conversation:

Where do we naturally support each other, and where do we tend to misread each other?
What does each of us need in order to feel secure, and are we offering it?
Is the strain we feel now tied to a period one of us is moving through?
How do our communication styles differ, and what helps when we disagree?
What themes are likely to return, and how can we prepare for them together?

Questions framed like this keep the reading practical. They turn the session into something you can use on an ordinary Tuesday, not just a forecast you hope comes true.

How a compatibility session works

The Compatibility Reading is a 30-minute session that compares two charts for love or business relationships, looking at strengths, challenges and communication between you. It runs online over Google Meet or WhatsApp, and you will need each person's date, time and place of birth. If you would like to understand the method before you book, our explainer on how a synastry reading online compares two charts walks through it.

Couples who have been together for years often come with a different question from new couples: not whether to begin, but how to keep growing. Our piece on a compatibility reading for an established couple covers that angle.

Frequently asked questions

Can astrology tell me whether my partner will leave?

No. A reading cannot predict another person's choices. It can describe patterns in how the two of you relate and periods when the relationship may need more care, which gives you something to work with rather than something to fear.

Is a low Ashtakoot score a reason to end things?

Not on its own. The points system looks only at the Moon signs and nakshatras. A fuller comparison of both charts gives a far more rounded picture, and a modest score can sit alongside supportive contacts elsewhere in the two charts.

Do we both need exact birth times?

Exact times make the house placements, including the seventh house, more reliable. If one time is unknown, a reading can still compare planetary positions and Moon signs, and the reader will tell you which conclusions are firmer and which are tentative.

Can I ask about a relationship that has already ended?

Yes. Looking back can help you understand why a past relationship unfolded as it did, especially if you notice a similar pattern beginning again.

When you get in touch, tell us a little about where the relationship stands and what you most want to understand, and include both sets of birth details if you have them. You can book a compatibility session directly or send your question first, and we will reply with the route that suits your situation.
