You don't need someone walking through your door to get a thorough Vastu consultation in Birmingham. A remote survey works from a floor plan, compass readings and a few photos, which Karmic Keran combines with your home's horoscope and Vedic astrology in the 45-minute Energy at Home session. Here is what a Birmingham Vastu consultant needs from you, and what you get back.

Why a Vastu consultant in Birmingham can work remotely

Vastu Shastra reads a building through its directions and its centre. Once a plan is oriented correctly, both can be assessed from anywhere. That suits a city where homes range from Victorian terraces in Moseley and Handsworth to 1930s semis in Hall Green and new-build apartments near the Jewellery Quarter. Each type raises its own questions, and none of them needs a consultant pacing the hallway with a tape measure.

Working remotely also changes the rhythm. You gather the information at your own pace, double-check the awkward corners, and the session itself is spent on interpretation rather than measuring.

If you're about to buy, rent or move, send us a short note about the property and we'll tell you what to gather first.

What a remote Vastu survey needs from you

A floor plan

An estate agent's plan is ideal, but a careful hand sketch works if it shows every room, the front door, windows, stairs and any extension. Mark which rooms you use for sleeping, cooking, working and prayer, and note anything you can't change, such as a fixed kitchen or a shared entrance.

Compass readings

Directions are the backbone of Vastu, so they need to be right. Use a phone compass and take one reading standing near the middle of the home, then another at the front door facing out.

Avoiding false readings

Steel radiators, fridges, boilers and even a car on the drive can pull a phone compass several degrees off. Step away from metal, take three readings and write them all down. In a flat, a reading near a window usually behaves better than one beside the lift. Checking the result against an online map of your street is a sensible cross-check.

Photos and household details

A handful of photos of the entrance, kitchen, main bedroom and the centre of the home adds context the plan can't show. For the home's horoscope you may also be asked for key dates, such as when you moved in or plan to, along with birth details for the main occupants.

How your home's horoscope and Vastu are read together

The Energy at Home / New Home session brings several lenses into one conversation: the home's own horoscope, Vedic astrology for the people living there, and Vastu Shastra alongside Feng Shui for the space itself. On the Vastu side, the plan is read zone by zone:

The centre (Brahmasthan): ideally open and uncluttered. In a terrace with a rear extension, the centre of the whole footprint moves back towards the point where old house meets new.
North-east (Ishanya): linked with water, light and calm, and often suggested for prayer or quiet study.
South-east (Agneya): the fire zone, traditionally favoured for the kitchen and hob.
South-west (Nairutya): associated with stability and weight, and traditionally preferred for the main bedroom.
North-west (Vayavya): air and movement, often suited to guest rooms or storage.

Your personal chart then adds nuance. Two households in identical semis can receive different suggestions, because the people, and the planetary periods they are moving through, are different.

Common Birmingham layouts and gentle corrections

Victorian and Edwardian terraces

Long, narrow plans often put the kitchen at the back in a rear outrigger, so it may sit in the north or west rather than the south-east. Suggestions here tend to involve the hob's position within the room, colour and lighting rather than moving anything. Our guide to Vastu for terraced house layouts goes further on narrow plans like these.

1930s semis

Hallways where the stairs face the front door are common. Vastu and Feng Shui both look at how an entrance receives and guides movement, and a rug, better lighting or a console table can soften a direct line from door to stairs. Bay-fronted living rooms, another feature of these houses, also change the outline of the plan, so draw the bay in rather than squaring it off.

City-centre flats

In a block, Vastu treats your own front door as the entrance that matters, not the shared lobby downstairs. The direction of the main windows or balcony helps orient the plan, and the centre of the flat, often an internal hallway, is worth keeping free of shoe racks and storage.

Suggestions start with what you can change without building work, and none comes with promised results. Vastu is offered as a way to make a space feel more considered and supportive, not as a fix for life's problems.

Homes and businesses: which service fits

For a house or flat, book the home session. If you run a shop, salon, clinic or office in Birmingham, the Energy at Workplace / New Workplace session applies the same method to commercial space, looking at the entrance, the owner's seat, the till or reception, and how customers move through the room. Not sure which applies, perhaps because you work from a spare bedroom? Mention it when you enquire. For a step-by-step picture of a whole session, see our guide to a remote Vastu session in the UK.

Frequently asked questions

Do you visit homes in Birmingham?

Sessions are held online. The essentials, from orientation and layout to the home's horoscope, can be worked out from your plan, compass readings and photos.

What if I don't have a floor plan?

A hand-drawn sketch is fine if it's roughly in proportion and shows doors, windows and stairs. Pacing out each room and noting the number of steps is enough.

Can I get Vastu advice before buying a house?

Yes, and it's a good moment to ask, before anything is fixed. Send the agent's plan and listing photos; orientation can often be checked from a map. Our viewing-day Vastu checklist helps too.

Will I have to rearrange every room?

Not necessarily. Most suggestions concern placement, colour, light and clearing the centre, chosen to fit how you actually live.

To begin, tell us about your home through the enquiry form and attach your floor plan or sketch and compass readings if you have them. We'll confirm anything else that's needed and arrange your Energy at Home session.
