Vasant Panchami 2027 falls on Thursday 11 February 2027, and for marriage it is one of the most sought-after days of the year because tradition treats it as abujh, auspicious without a separate search. In London the Panchami tithi runs from 21:34 on 10 February to 21:48 on 11 February, so the whole of the wedding day sits inside it.

Still, a day that is good in general is not automatically right for every couple. If you are weighing it up, you can send us your question with both birth details and we will look at it with you.

Vasant Panchami 2027 for marriage: the traditional view

Vasant Panchami, the fifth lunar day of the bright half of Magha, welcomes spring and honours Saraswati, the goddess of learning, music and speech. In many North Indian communities it is counted as an abujh muhurat, a day so favourable that weddings may be held without consulting a priest for the date. That is why it is such a sought-after wedding date in India and among diaspora families.

The date also sits comfortably in the calendar. The winter Kharmas ends at Makar Sankranti on 14 January 2027, and the spring pause does not start until mid-March 2027, when the Sun moves into sidereal Pisces on 15 March and Holashtak begins the same day by a London calculation. Vasant Panchami lands squarely in the open stretch between them.

Why couples still check their charts

Abujh refers to the day. A marriage, though, joins two people with their own horoscopes, and families who care about astrology usually want to know how the date relates to both.

Matching comes first

The date question normally follows kundli matching, not the other way round. If you have not yet looked at compatibility, our guide to kundli matching for marriage in the UK explains what that conversation covers and why a guna score is only the beginning.

Transits and dashas on the day

We look at whether the Moon's position on 11 February, and the wider transits that week, sit comfortably with each partner's Moon sign and current dasha. Occasionally a couple finds that the festival day is fine but a nearby day is warmer for both charts.

The vivah lagna

Even on an abujh day, many families like the pheras or the key moment of the ceremony to take place under a supportive rising sign. Lagnas change roughly every two hours and differ by location, so a time worked out for Delhi will not suit a ceremony in Leicester or Slough.

When one family wants the festival and the other wants the chart

This is common, and it is usually solvable. The festival day can be kept while the ceremony time is chosen from the couple's charts, so both priorities are respected.

A Thursday wedding in February: UK practicalities

Vasant Panchami falls midweek in 2027, which changes the planning in a British context.

Venue availability: weekday bookings can be easier to secure than Saturdays, even in a busy month.
Guests: relatives may need to take leave, and school-age cousins may be in term time. February half term dates vary by council, so check the dates for the areas your guests live in.
Daylight: February days are short, so outdoor photographs and a baraat need planning around the early dusk.
Weather: a cold, wet morning is quite possible, so allow for coverings and indoor alternatives.

Some couples hold a smaller religious ceremony on Vasant Panchami and a larger reception on the following weekend. That keeps the meaning of the day while easing pressure on guests.

Questions to settle with your venue and priest

Can the ceremony room be ready early enough for a morning muhurat, or is the venue only available from midday?
Does the venue allow a havan or sacred fire indoors, and what is needed for that?
Is your priest already committed to other weddings on Vasant Panchami, since it is a popular day for them too?
How long will the pheras and rituals take, so the chosen lagna covers the key moment rather than only the start?

Having these answers before you ask for a ceremony time means the muhurat can be fitted to what the venue can really offer.

Learning and other beginnings on the day

Because Saraswati is honoured, Vasant Panchami is also chosen for vidyarambh, a child's first formal step into learning, and for starting music, art or a new course of study. Students in many families place books and instruments near the shrine. If you are not planning a wedding, these smaller starts are a lovely way to use the day.

If 11 February 2027 does not work

Missing Vasant Panchami does not mean missing a good date. The weeks between mid-January and early March 2027 usually offer other wedding muhurats, and our Magic of Lucky Dates and Times service compares them for your location and both charts. Frequently asked questions

Is Vasant Panchami 2027 good for marriage?

Traditionally yes. It is regarded as an abujh day and falls outside both Kharmas periods. Couples who follow astrology still check the day and time against their own charts.

What date is Vasant Panchami 2027 in the UK?

Thursday 11 February 2027. Drik Panchang's London calendar shows the Panchami tithi from 21:34 on 10 February to 21:48 on 11 February.

Do we need a muhurat time on an abujh day?

The day itself needs no search, but many families still choose a supportive lagna for the pheras. That time must be calculated for your UK venue.

How early should we enquire?

As early as possible, ideally before paying a venue deposit, so the date and time can be checked while you still have choices.

If you are considering Vasant Panchami 2027 for your wedding, send us your question through the enquiry form with both birth details, your venue's town and any dates you are holding. We will explain how the day and possible ceremony times sit with your charts so you can book with a clear mind.
