Libra season 2027 begins at the autumn equinox, at about 7.02am BST on Thursday 23 September, and runs until about 4.30pm BST on Saturday 23 October. With Venus in Libra as it opens, Saturn opposing the Sun near its close and Mercury retrograde from 7 October, it is a month for honest relationship conversations.

If one relationship is on your mind, a Compatibility Reading compares two birth charts in a thirty-minute online session, for love or for business.

Libra season 2027: the key dates

Times are UK time (BST) and signs are tropical.

23 September: equinox; the Sun enters Libra, with day and night roughly equal across the UK.
28 September: the Sun opposes Neptune in Aries, a day when ideals and reality can blur.
30 September: New Moon in Libra at 03:36, at about 7 degrees of the sign.
4 October: Venus opposes Saturn, testing whether a commitment is built to last.
7 October: Mercury turns retrograde in early Scorpio.
8 October: Venus moves into Scorpio.
15 October: Full Moon in Aries at 14:47, not far from Saturn.
16 October: retrograde Mercury slips back into Libra.
18 October: the Sun opposes Saturn.
23 October: the Sun enters Scorpio. Mercury turns direct five days later, on 28 October.

Venus at home: the first fortnight

Libra is ruled by Venus, and in 2027 Venus is already in Libra when the season begins, having arrived on 14 September. A planet in its own sign is considered strong and comfortable, so the opening weeks favour diplomacy, beauty and making peace. The New Moon on 30 September is a natural moment to set an intention about how you want to relate to others, or to plan a social or family occasion.

The reality check of 4 October

When Venus opposes Saturn, affection meets responsibility. It is not a negative aspect so much as a sober one. Couples may find themselves discussing practical matters such as time, money or family duties, and a new attraction may reveal whether it has substance. Treat it as information rather than a verdict.

Mercury retrograde and the Saturn opposition

The second half of Libra season 2027 is more reflective. Mercury stations retrograde on 7 October at about 5 degrees of Scorpio, moves back into Libra on 16 October and turns direct at about 19 degrees of Libra on 28 October. For relationships, that suggests revisiting an old conversation, clarifying a misunderstanding or reconnecting with someone from the past, rather than signing new agreements in a hurry. Our Mercury retrograde 2027 guide has all three of the year's cycles.

Why 18 October matters

Once a year the Sun opposes Saturn. In 2027 it happens with the Sun in Libra and Saturn retrograde in Aries, which places a question of balance between your needs and someone else's at the centre of the month. The Full Moon in Aries three days earlier, close to Saturn, prepares the ground. If a relationship has been carrying an unspoken imbalance, this is often when it comes up.

Libra season 2027 for each sign, in opposite pairs

Libra is the sign of partnership, so each sign is paired here with its opposite. The house numbers show where the Sun travels in each solar chart.

Aries and Libra

Aries has the Sun in the seventh house of partners, opposite Saturn in your own sign: listen before you defend. Libra celebrates a birthday season in the first house, with Venus beside the Sun at the start; decide what fairness to yourself looks like.

Taurus and Scorpio

Taurus focuses on the sixth house of daily work and routine; Venus, your ruler, faces Saturn on 4 October, so be realistic about workloads. Scorpio rests in the twelfth house while Mars moves through your sign; the Mercury retrograde starts in your sign, so reflect before you announce.

Gemini and Sagittarius

Gemini enjoys the fifth house of romance and creativity; with your ruler retrograde, an old flame or unfinished project may return. Sagittarius looks to the eleventh house of friends and hopes, and Mars enters your sign on 16 October; a group may need a frank talk about who does what.

Cancer and Capricorn

Cancer turns to the fourth house of home; family conversations need patience after 7 October. Capricorn has the tenth house of career lit, with Saturn, your ruler, opposite the Sun; working relationships, including with managers, come under review.

Leo and Aquarius

Leo is busy in the third house of everyday communication, which retrograde Mercury revisits from 16 October; a sibling or neighbour may need a gentler tone. Aquarius looks to the ninth house of study, travel and beliefs, while Pluto in your sign turns direct on 18 October; a partner's perspective could widen yours.

Virgo and Pisces

Virgo reviews the second house of values; ask whether a relationship reflects what you truly value. Pisces faces the eighth house of trust and intimacy, so clarify shared arrangements before assuming agreement.

When a Compatibility Reading helps

A sign-by-sign overview cannot tell you how two specific people fit together. A Compatibility Reading looks at both birth charts side by side to explore strengths, challenges and communication styles, for a couple, two business partners or even two friends. It is especially useful this season if:

you are deciding whether to deepen a commitment and want to understand the dynamics first;
you keep having the same disagreement and want to see where it comes from;
you are entering a business partnership and want to know how you each handle pressure.
