Leo season 2027 starts at about 2am BST on Friday 23 July and runs until just after 9am on Monday 23 August. Its centrepiece is the total solar eclipse in Leo on 2 August, seen as a partial eclipse from the UK, while Jupiter leaves Leo for Virgo on 26 July. Expect a month about visibility, pride and what you are ready to outgrow.

If something is already stirring, a thirty-minute General Reading on Google Meet or WhatsApp is the quickest way to see where this season sits in your own chart.

The eclipse at the heart of Leo season 2027

The New Moon on Monday 2 August 2027 at 11:05 BST is a total solar eclipse at roughly 10 degrees of Leo. Totality crosses southern Spain, North Africa and Egypt; from London the Moon covers around half of the Sun’s width at about 10am, a little more in the south-west and less in Scotland. Never look at the Sun directly, even when it is partly covered. Use certified eclipse glasses or a simple pinhole projector.

Astrologically, this eclipse sits close to the south node of the Moon, which is traditionally read as a point of release rather than acquisition. In a Leo context that might mean letting go of a role you have performed for too long, a need for approval, or a creative project that no longer feels like yours.

Does the eclipse touch your chart?

An eclipse matters most when it falls within a few degrees of your Sun, Moon, rising sign or a personal planet. If you were born in late July or early August, or have planets around 7 to 13 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio, it is worth a closer look. Our guide to the total solar eclipse of August 2027 covers UK viewing times in detail.

Jupiter hands over to Virgo

Jupiter has been travelling through Leo since the summer of 2026, encouraging generosity, confidence and creative risk. It moves into Virgo on Monday 26 July 2027, three days into the season. The tone shifts from expansion through self-expression to growth through skill, service and steady improvement. Leos may feel the change most: the year of encouragement ends, and the solar eclipse two weeks later asks what you will keep from it.

Leo season 2027, week by week

23 to 31 July: a bright, intense start

Venus enters Leo on 27 July, warming social life and romance. The Sun opposes Pluto on 29 July, which can bring a power struggle or a confrontation with control into the open, and trines Neptune the next day, softening the edges with imagination and compassion.

1 to 8 August: the eclipse week

Venus opposes Pluto on 1 August, so relationship dynamics may feel charged just before the eclipse. Mercury enters Leo on 2 August, the same day, encouraging people to speak with more feeling. Avoid major launches on the eclipse day itself; traditional timing practice leaves eclipse days out of auspicious beginnings.

9 to 16 August: review and recognition

Saturn turns retrograde in late Aries on 9 August and stays retrograde until 24 December 2027, opening a long review of commitments made since early 2026. On 11 and 12 August, Mercury and then Venus meet the Sun in the middle of Leo, a good pair of days for honest conversations about what you want.

17 to 23 August: the Aquarius Full Moon

The Full Moon in Aquarius on 17 August at 08:29 BST is also a penumbral lunar eclipse, not visible from the UK because the Moon has already set. It turns attention from personal pride to friendship and the wider group. Mercury enters Virgo the same day, Venus follows on 20 August, and the Sun trines Saturn on 21 August, steadying the final days before Virgo season begins.

Where Leo season 2027 lands for each sign

Each sign experiences the Sun in Leo, and the eclipse, in a different area of life. Read your Sun sign and your rising sign.

Aries: fifth house of creativity, romance and children. Make room for play, but notice where a need to impress is draining you.
Taurus: fourth house of home and family, where Venus, your ruler, arrives on 27 July. The eclipse may prompt a rethink of living arrangements; discuss before you decide.
Gemini: third house of everyday communication and siblings, with Mercury, your ruler, entering Leo on 2 August. Speak warmly, and finish a conversation that has been left hanging.
Cancer: second house of values and self-worth. Ask what you are worth to yourself, not only to others.
Leo: first house, your birthday season. With the eclipse in your sign and Jupiter departing, review how you present yourself before reinventing it.
Virgo: twelfth house of rest and retreat. Recharge quietly; Jupiter arrives in your sign on 26 July with plenty to build on after 23 August.
Libra: eleventh house of friends and long-term hopes. One group or ambition may fall away to make room for a better fit.
Scorpio: tenth house of career and reputation. Be visible for the right reasons; the eclipse can mark the end of a professional chapter.
Sagittarius: ninth house of travel, study and belief, while Jupiter, your ruler, climbs into your tenth house on 26 July. A course or journey calls, but read the details first.
Capricorn: eighth house of trust and shared arrangements, and Saturn, your ruler, turns retrograde in your fourth house on 9 August. Clarify expectations in close bonds before resentments grow.
Aquarius: seventh house of partnership, with the Full Moon in your sign on 17 August. A relationship question comes to a head; listen as carefully as you speak.
Pisces: sixth house of daily routines and work, as Jupiter, your traditional ruler, enters your seventh house of partners on 26 July. Simplify one habit that keeps you busy without moving you forward.

Bringing Leo season into a General Reading

A General Reading is thirty minutes of focused conversation about one personal issue or a professional decision, using your Vedic birth chart. It suits this season because the eclipse tends to raise one clear question rather than many. To make the most of it:

Send your date, time and place of birth as accurately as you can.
Write your question in one or two sentences, for example "Is this the right moment to step back from a leadership role?"
Note any dates already in your diary between July and September, so they can be checked against the eclipse and Saturn's retrograde.

For the year ahead in more depth, the Leo horoscope 2027 follows Jupiter's exit from your sign month by month.
