Your Leo horoscope for 2027 has one standout date: 2 August 2027, when a total solar eclipse falls in your sign just days after Jupiter leaves it. Until 26 July, Jupiter keeps confidence and visibility high; afterwards the focus moves to values and self-worth. Saturn, meanwhile, rewards study, travel plans and a clearer personal philosophy.

Jupiter's final months in Leo

Jupiter entered Leo on 30 June 2026, its first visit since 2014 and 2015. It begins 2027 retrograde, turns direct on 13 April 2027 and moves into Virgo on 26 July 2027 (all dates UK time). In your first house, Jupiter tends to bring recognition, generosity and the confidence to take creative risks, so the first seven months of 2027 are the tail end of a twelve-year high point.

The retrograde phase from January to mid-April is best used to review whatever you began in the second half of 2026. Once Jupiter moves forward again, it passes over the later degrees of Leo, so Leos born between about 9 and 23 August feel its influence strongly before it leaves.

Mars retrograde in your sign

Mars, already retrograde since 10 January 2027, backs into Leo on 21 February, turns direct at almost 21 degrees of Leo on 1 April and finally leaves for Virgo on 14 May 2027. Energy may feel turned inward for a while. It is a season for finishing and refining rather than forcing, and for noticing what triggers frustration before you react to it.

The total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027

This eclipse falls at 10 degrees of Leo, close to the South Node, which travels through your sign all year. Its path of totality crosses southern Spain, North Africa and the Middle East, with an unusually long period of totality. Astrologically, a solar eclipse in your own sign is read as a personal turning point: a door closing on one way of being seen, and another opening. Because the Sun is your ruling planet, an eclipse of the Sun in Leo is doubly personal, which is why this date anchors your year.

Who feels it most

Leos born around 1 to 4 August, when the Sun sits near 10 degrees of the sign, are closest to the eclipse degree. People with a Leo ascendant or planets near that degree often feel it too, which a chart reading can confirm.

Working with an eclipse rather than fearing it

Many traditions avoid eclipse days for ceremonies, signings and launches, preferring the weeks after. If you are planning a wedding, opening or move around this time, the Magic of Lucky Dates and Times session can help you choose a more settled date.

Leo horoscope 2027: love, work and values

Love and partnership

The North Node sits in Aquarius, your seventh house of partnership, all year, and the annular eclipse of 6 February 2027 lands there too, followed by a penumbral lunar eclipse in the same sign on 17 August 2027. Relationships become a place of growth, asking you to share the spotlight. Venus brings warmth when it travels through Leo from 27 July to 20 August 2027.

Study, travel and work

Saturn and Neptune occupy Aries, your ninth house of higher learning, travel, publishing and belief. Saturn here favours committed study, a qualification or a long-planned journey taken seriously. Uranus in Gemini, your eleventh house, refreshes your networks and may bring unexpected new allies.

Values after 26 July

Jupiter in Virgo, your second house, turns attention to skills, self-worth and how you use your resources. That is reflection, not a prediction of financial outcomes, and a reading is never financial advice.

Simha Moon: what Vedic astrology adds

In Vedic astrology the year is judged from your Moon sign, measured in the sidereal zodiac, which currently sits about 24 degrees behind the tropical one. In that zodiac, the August eclipse actually falls in Cancer, which is why some Indian forecasts describe it differently. If you are unsure of your Moon sign, this guide to finding your rashi explains how.

For a Simha Moon, sidereal Saturn has been in Pisces, the eighth from your Moon, a placement known as Ashtama Shani. It moves into Aries, your ninth, on 3 June 2027, easing Ashtama Shani, which is usually described as a lifting of pressure, then steps back into Pisces from 20 October 2027 until 23 February 2028 for a final stretch before the phase ends. Sidereal Jupiter slips back into Cancer in late January, re-enters Leo on 26 June 2027 and moves into Virgo on 26 November 2027, with Rahu in Capricorn and Ketu in Cancer throughout the year.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 2 August 2027 eclipse bad for Leo?

No eclipse is simply good or bad. One in your sign usually marks a turning point in identity or direction, and it often brings clarity about what to let go of.

When does Jupiter leave Leo in 2027?

Jupiter enters Virgo on 26 July 2027 in the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology. In the sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology, it returns to Leo on 26 June 2027 and moves into Virgo on 26 November 2027.

Should I avoid big plans around the eclipse?

Traditional electional astrology avoids starting major ventures on an eclipse day itself. A date chosen with your chart in mind is a calmer option than guessing.

An eclipse in your own sign is easier to work with when you know which house it lights up in your birth chart. Send us your question with your birth date, time and place, and you will receive a personal view of how this eclipse year touches your chart.
