For many families looking for an astrologer in Preston, the reason is a wedding: matching two kundlis, then choosing dates for the engagement, the mandap mahurat and the ceremony itself. Karmic Keran offers these as Vedic sessions held online, by Google Meet or WhatsApp, so households in Deepdale, Fishwick, Ribbleton or Fulwood can plan from home and include relatives abroad on the call.

If a match is already being discussed, send your question with both sets of birth details and roughly when the families hope to hold the wedding. I will reply with the best way to begin.

Two meanings of lagna

Gujarati families in Lancashire will know that lagna means the wedding. In a birth chart, the same word means the ascendant, the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It is a happy coincidence, because good wedding planning in this tradition draws on both: the charts of the two people, and a well-chosen moment for the ceremony. An astrologer in Preston who works with Gujarati families should be comfortable moving between the two, explaining the chart side in plain English and the calendar side in the terms your elders use.

Preston has had a settled Gujarati community for generations, and the customs around a lagna are still followed carefully in many homes, even when the couple met at university or through work rather than through family introductions.

Step one: kundli matching with an astrologer in Preston

Kundli milan, or gun milan, compares the two Moon signs and birth nakshatras across eight factors, producing a score out of 36. Half marks, 18, is the usual threshold families quote, yet two matches with the same total can look very different once the charts are opened up.

Looking beyond the points

Classical texts describe many situations in which an apparent problem, such as Nadi or Bhakoot dosha, is cancelled by other factors. A careful match also checks Mangal dosha, the 7th house of partnership in each chart and the current planetary periods. The guide to kundli matching for UK families explains each part in plain English.

When the couple want more than a score

Families often want to know whether a match is suitable, while the couple themselves want to understand how they will communicate and where friction may arise. The Compatibility Reading is a 30-minute session that compares both charts for strengths, challenges and communication, and it sits comfortably alongside traditional matching.

Step two: choosing the wedding muhurat

Once the families agree, the next question is when. A muhurat, or auspicious moment, is chosen using the Hindu calendar together with the couple's charts.

What the calendar looks at

Tithi: the lunar day, with some considered more suitable for marriage than others.
Nakshatra: certain lunar mansions are traditionally preferred for weddings.
Weekday, yoga and karana: the remaining elements of the panchang.
Lagna at the ceremony: the rising sign at the moment of the pheras, chosen to be steady and well placed.

Seasons when weddings traditionally pause

Many Gujarati families avoid weddings during Chaturmas, the four months that begin with Devshayani Ekadashi in the monsoon season and end with Dev Uthani Ekadashi in the autumn, after which Tulsi Vivah opens the wedding season. Many also avoid kamurta, known elsewhere as kharmas, when the Sun passes through Sagittarius and Pisces. The exact dates change every year, so they are always checked against the calendar for the year in question.

Balancing tradition with a Lancashire venue diary

Halls and hotels across Preston and the Fylde coast book up early for popular weekends, and relatives may be travelling from India, Kenya or the United States. A good muhurat search starts with the dates you can realistically use and finds the most suitable moments within them, rather than producing a single date that no venue can offer. My guide to choosing a Hindu wedding muhurat in the UK covers this balance in more depth.

Step three: the ceremonies around the wedding

A Gujarati wedding is a sequence of events rather than a single day, and families often like each one timed with care. Names and customs vary between families and regions, but the sequence commonly includes:

Gol dhana: the engagement, marked by sharing coriander seeds and jaggery.
Mandap mahurat: the blessing that begins the wedding preparations.
Griha shanti: prayers for the household before the wedding.
Pithi: the turmeric ceremony, usually a day or two before.

The Magic of Lucky Dates & Times session finds auspicious dates and times for these occasions, and can also help with later milestones such as moving into a new home together.

When the question is really about you

Sometimes the wedding questions sit on top of a bigger one: am I ready, is this the right period of my life, what does my chart say about partnership? The In-Depth Reading is a 60-minute, one-to-one session on Google Meet or WhatsApp that looks at your own Vedic chart for long-term guidance on relationships, career and personal growth. It looks at your 7th house and its ruler, Venus, and your current dasha, and leaves room for whatever else you want to explore.

Some people book this hour before matching begins, simply to feel settled about their own timing. Others book it later, once a match is agreed, to think about the first years of married life and how they want to share a home.

Frequently asked questions

Can relatives in India or Africa join the call?

Yes. Sessions take place on Google Meet or WhatsApp, so family members anywhere can join, provided the couple are happy for them to listen.

What if the score is low?

A low score is not a verdict. I explain which factors are involved and which classical exceptions apply. I do not sell remedies or rituals. The decision to marry belongs to the couple and their families, not to a points table.

Do you see clients in person in Preston?

No. All readings are online, which makes it easy to fit planning around work and family.

How far ahead should we choose a muhurat?

As early as you can, ideally before booking a venue, so the date and the auspicious timing can be matched together.

Whether you need kundli matching, a full set of ceremony dates or a personal reading first, book the session that fits or send your question through the enquiry form. Include birth details for everyone involved and the months the families are considering, and I will suggest the clearest way forward.
