How eclipses affect your zodiac sign depends on which houses of your chart they fall in. In 2027 the main eclipses land on the Leo–Aquarius axis, with a closing Virgo–Pisces lunar eclipse in February. Leo and Aquarius feel them most personally, Taurus and Scorpio through career and home, and every other sign in one particular area of life.

Sun-sign notes are only a starting point. For a reading of your whole chart, send us your question with your date, time and place of birth.

The 2027 eclipses in brief

6 February: annular solar eclipse at 17° Aquarius.
20 February: penumbral lunar eclipse, Moon at 2° Virgo opposite the Sun in early Pisces.
18 July: a barely-there penumbral lunar eclipse, Moon in late Capricorn.
2 August: total solar eclipse at 10° Leo.
17 August: penumbral lunar eclipse, Moon at 24° Aquarius.

These degrees use the tropical zodiac of Western horoscopes. The Vedic picture is covered further down.

Why houses matter more than signs

Your Sun sign shows where the Sun was when you were born. Your rising sign sets the layout of all twelve houses, so if you know it, read the paragraph for your rising sign first and your Sun sign second. Solar eclipses are traditionally read as openings in the house they occupy; lunar eclipses as culminations or endings. The closer an eclipse falls to a planet or angle in your chart, within roughly three degrees, the more noticeable it tends to be.

How the 2027 eclipses affect each zodiac sign

Fire signs

Aries

The Aquarius eclipses fall in your eleventh house of friendships, groups and long-term hopes, while August lights up your fifth house of creativity, romance and play. The year asks which circles truly support you, and what you make purely for joy.

Leo

The 2 August total eclipse falls in your own sign, with February's in your seventh house of partners. Identity and relationships are reworked together. With the south node also in Leo all year, letting go of an old image of yourself is part of the story. Birthdays near 2 August feel it most.

Sagittarius

Your third house of everyday communication meets your ninth house of travel, study and belief. The February lunar eclipse also crosses your career and home angles, so a decision about where to live or study may be linked to work.

Earth signs

Taurus

The axis runs through your tenth house of career and public role and your fourth house of home and family. If you have planets in the middle degrees of Taurus, the eclipses square them, making the balance between ambition and home life a live question.

Virgo

The 20 February lunar eclipse at 2° Virgo falls in your first house, especially for birthdays in the last week of August. The Leo–Aquarius eclipses then move through your twelfth house of rest and retreat and your sixth house of daily work and routines.

Capricorn

Aquarius is your second house of values, resources and self-worth; Leo is your eighth house of shared commitments and deep change. July's faint lunar eclipse falls in your own sign, a quiet nudge to review what you are carrying for others.

Air signs

Gemini

Your ninth house of study, travel and belief pairs with your third house of conversations, siblings and neighbourhood. February's lunar eclipse falls across your fourth and tenth houses, so home and career both ask for attention early in the year.

Libra

The eclipses work through your fifth house of creativity and romance and your eleventh house of friendships and networks. The question is where you put your heart, and who you share it with.

Aquarius

Your sign hosts both the 6 February annular eclipse and the 17 August lunar eclipse, with August's solar eclipse falling in your seventh house of partnership. The north node in Aquarius throughout 2027 adds a sense of stepping forward into a new version of yourself. Birthdays near 6 or 13 February are most directly touched.

Water signs

Cancer

Aquarius falls in your eighth house of intimacy and joint commitments, Leo in your second house of personal values. The faint 18 July eclipse arrives in your birthday season, with the Sun in late Cancer, which makes it a good moment to reflect on what you truly need.

Scorpio

Home and roots (fourth house) and career and reputation (tenth house) are both in play. As with Taurus, planets in the middle degrees of Scorpio are squared by the eclipses, so the year often brings a rethink of how private and public life fit together.

Pisces

The Leo–Aquarius eclipses move through your twelfth house of the inner life and your sixth house of routines and service. The 20 February lunar eclipse falls with the Sun in early Pisces, so birthdays around 19 to 21 February have an eclipse very close by.

If you follow your Vedic sign

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, currently about 24 degrees behind the tropical one, and gives most weight to the Moon sign, or rashi, and the ascendant. In sidereal terms, the February solar eclipse falls in Capricorn and the August solar eclipse in Cancer, with Rahu in Capricorn and Ketu in Cancer throughout 2027. So the August eclipse that Western columns place in Leo is read in Cancer in a Vedic chart, and many people find their Vedic Sun sign is the sign before their Western one. If you are unsure which sign is yours, start with our guide what is my rashi.

When an eclipse meets your birth chart directly

Generic sign readings, including the ones above, cannot see your whole chart. An eclipse matters most when it lands near your Sun, Moon, ascendant or a planet, in a house linked to a decision you face, or during a change of dasha. An In-Depth Reading gives sixty minutes to map every 2027 eclipse onto your chart and set it alongside your dasha timeline and the year's major transits. For a broader overview first, our 2027 horoscope for all zodiac signs sets out the year's main themes.

Frequently asked questions

Which zodiac signs are most affected by the 2027 eclipses?

Leo and Aquarius most directly, because the main eclipses fall in their signs, followed by Taurus and Scorpio. Virgo and Pisces feel the February lunar eclipse more than most.

Should I read my Sun sign, Moon sign or rising sign?

Your rising sign gives the most accurate house picture in Western astrology. In Vedic astrology, the ascendant and the Moon sign are read together.

Are eclipses bad luck for my sign?

No. Eclipses highlight areas of life ready for change. They are prompts for reflection, not verdicts, and what an eclipse highlights is yours to respond to.

Can a reading tell me exactly what an eclipse will bring?

No honest astrologer can. A reading shows where an eclipse falls in your chart and what themes it activates, so you can respond thoughtfully.
