A Hindu wedding muhurat for 2027 in the UK falls inside three broad windows: mid-January to mid-March, mid-April to early July, and from 9 or 10 November to mid-December. Only some days within them pass the panchang tests, and a Delhi list will not carry over unchanged to London or Leicester, because sunrise, clock time and your two charts differ.

The 2027 wedding year at a glance

Customs vary, but many Hindu families avoid the same few stretches of the year for weddings. In 2027 they fall like this, with the Sun's sidereal ingresses given on London dates:

Winter Kharmas ends when the Sun enters sidereal Capricorn on the afternoon of Thursday 14 January 2027, which is why many printed lists restart from 15 January.
Kharmas with the Sun in Pisces runs from the early hours of Monday 15 March to late morning on Wednesday 14 April 2027.
Chaturmas opens on Devshayani Ekadashi, Wednesday 14 July 2027, and closes on Devutthana (Prabodhini) Ekadashi, which a London-calculated panchang places on Tuesday 9 November and a New Delhi one on Wednesday 10 November.
Venus is combust (too close to the Sun to be seen) from about the first week of July until mid-September 2027, and Jupiter from mid-August to mid-September, so the summer gap opens slightly before Chaturmas.
Kharmas returns when the Sun enters sidereal Sagittarius late on the morning of Thursday 16 December 2027 and runs on into January 2028.
Eclipse days, such as the annular solar eclipse of Saturday 6 February 2027, are usually left out too.

What that leaves open

Between those pauses lie the three seasons named at the top of this page. Inside them, a day still has to clear the tithi, nakshatra, weekday and yoga checks, and many will not. Some communities keep extra pauses from their regional calendar, so ask the elders on both sides.

If you already have a venue shortlist, you can send both birth details and your preferred months and I will start from your real constraints rather than from a printed table.

Why a Hindu wedding muhurat for 2027 shifts in the UK

Indian panchang lists are calculated for a particular city. Three things change when the ceremony moves to Britain.

Clock time

India keeps one time zone, five and a half hours ahead of GMT. UK clocks go forward on 28 March 2027 and back on 31 October 2027, so for most of the wedding season the gap is four and a half hours. A nakshatra that changes at 10:00 in India changes at 04:30 or 05:30 here: the same astronomical moment, but a very different part of your wedding day.

Local sunrise

Many panchang rules depend on which tithi is running at local sunrise, and London's sunrise comes at a different moment from Delhi's, which can move an observance onto another date. In 2027, panchangs calculated for each city show Akshaya Tritiya on Saturday 8 May in London but Sunday 9 May in New Delhi, and Diwali's Lakshmi Puja on Thursday 28 October in London against Friday 29 October in New Delhi. Wedding dates can move in the same way.

The rising sign at the ceremony

The most precise part of a muhurat is the lagna, the sign rising in the east when the pheras take place. The lagna depends on latitude. London sits near 51.5 degrees north and Delhi near 28.6, and at London's latitude the signs rise at very uneven speeds: some take under an hour, others nearer three. A lagna window copied from an Indian table can be hours out, or far shorter than it looks.

Why this matters on the day

If the priest, the venue and the photographer all work to a borrowed time, the vows can land in the wrong lagna without anyone noticing. A UK-calculated window lets you plan the baraat and the meal around the moment that matters most.

Where your two charts come in

A public list asks whether a day is good in general. A personal muhurat asks whether it is good for the two of you.

Chandra bala: the day's Moon should sit well from each partner's natal Moon. Dates when it transits the eighth sign from either Moon, known as chandrashtama, are usually set aside.
Tara bala: counted from each partner's birth nakshatra, some days fall in favourable groups and others in avoided ones.
Running periods: the dasha each of you is in helps decide which of several workable dates feels most fitting.

Muhurat is separate from kundli matching. If you have not yet compared your charts, a compatibility reading looks at strengths, challenges and communication between you; the date work naturally comes afterwards.

Fitting 2027's windows around UK venues and families

The panchang has to meet the booking calendar. Weekend dates in late spring and early summer are in demand, and the mandir, priest and caterer keep their own diaries. A few approaches help:

Ask for every workable date in your chosen season, weekdays included, before you approach venues.
If the venue is already booked, the question becomes which hours that day are strongest, and whether a short ceremony at the muhurat can precede the celebration.
Where the civil registration happens on a different day, decide as a family which moment you treat as the marriage, and time that one.

This is the work of the Magic of Lucky Dates & Times session. Your shortlist, both sets of birth details and your UK location go in; you come away with dates and time windows to take to the venue and the priest. Sessions run online through Google Meet or WhatsApp, or as written replies, wherever in the UK the wedding will be.

What to prepare before you ask

Both partners' date, time and place of birth, as exact as you can find them.
The town or city where the ceremony will be held.
Your preferred months or dates in 2027, and any that are ruled out.
Your community's customs, including any weekday the family avoids.
Any date already suggested by a family priest, so it can be checked for UK timing rather than discarded.

Frequently asked questions

Can we use the date our pandit in India sent?

Often the day itself still works, but the time window almost always needs recalculating for the UK, and occasionally the date moves by one day because of the sunrise rule. Bring it along and it can be checked rather than replaced.

Are there any wedding muhurats during Chaturmas 2027?

Many North Indian families do not marry between 14 July and Devutthana Ekadashi in November, and in 2027 Venus and Jupiter are also combust for much of that stretch. Other communities follow different customs, so the answer depends on your family's tradition.

Do the mehndi and sangeet need their own muhurat?

Not necessarily. Many families time only the main ceremony; others like a good window for the haldi too. Mention every event you would like considered.

When you are ready, send your question through our enquiry form with both birth details, your city and your months in 2027. I will come back to you with the next step, whether that is a full date session or a quick check of a date you already hold.
