Cancer season 2027 begins at the summer solstice, when the Sun enters Cancer at about 3.11pm BST on Monday 21 June, and ends in the early hours of Friday 23 July. It is a month about home, family and belonging, with one complication: Mercury is retrograde for its first two weeks.

If a family or home decision is already on your mind, send us your question with your date, time and place of birth, and I will suggest whether a short written answer or a longer session suits it.

Mercury retrograde across the solstice

Mercury turned retrograde on 10 June at about 6 degrees of Cancer and does not turn direct until 4 July, so the season opens in review mode. Mercury governs messages, paperwork and travel plans; in protective Cancer, the retrograde tends to bring old family conversations back to the table.

What the overlap asks of you

Treat the first fortnight as a time to listen, edit and finish. A conversation with a parent or housemate may need a second, calmer attempt. Plans for a summer move or a family gathering are worth checking twice: dates, addresses, who is bringing what. Our guide to Mercury retrograde 2027 dates covers all three cycles of the year, including the shadow weeks either side.

A simple rhythm for the fortnight

Gather information before 4 July, set one intention for home at the New Moon, and act once Mercury is moving forward through Cancer again from 12 July.

Moon-ruled weeks: home, roots and care

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, the fastest-moving body in the sky and the planet of feeling, memory and nourishment. While the Sun moves through this sign, many people notice a pull towards the familiar: cooking for others, sorting a spare room, calling relatives they have not spoken to for a while. Honour it, but notice when care tips into holding on to old hurts.

In Vedic astrology, which uses the sidereal zodiac, the Sun is still in Gemini for most of these weeks and only reaches Karka, the Vedic Cancer, in the middle of July. That is one reason a Vedic reading puts more weight on your Moon sign, your rashi, and on the house the Moon rules in your birth chart than on the calendar month.

What Cancer season 2027 asks of each sign

These notes use the house the Sun moves through in each sign's solar chart. Your rising sign and Moon sign will refine them.

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

Cancer

The Sun is in your first house and Mercury retrogrades in your sign, so this birthday season favours reflection before reinvention. Decide how you want to be seen before you announce it.

Scorpio

Your ninth house of study, travel and belief is lit. Check bookings carefully until 4 July, then follow the course or journey that genuinely interests you.

Pisces

The fifth house of creativity, romance and children is busy. Venus joins the Sun here from 3 July, sweetening time spent on what you enjoy.

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn

Taurus

Your third house of everyday communication and neighbourhood links is in focus, and Venus, your ruler, joins it on 3 July. Rewrite the email rather than sending the first draft.

Virgo

Friendships and group plans fill your eleventh house. With Mercury, your ruler, retrograde at the start, revisit an old connection before chasing new ones.

Capricorn

Partnerships occupy your seventh house, and the Full Moon on 18 July falls in your sign. A relationship conversation may reach a natural conclusion.

Fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius

Aries

Home and family sit in your fourth house, while Saturn in your sign squares the Sun on 20 July. Balance duty to others with a realistic view of your own limits.

Leo

Your twelfth house of rest asks for quiet before your own season begins on 23 July. Jupiter is still in your sign, so plan gently rather than pushing.

Sagittarius

The eighth house of trust and shared arrangements is highlighted, while Jupiter, your ruler, finishes its run through your ninth house. Ask clear questions about who holds what.

Air signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius

Gemini

Your second house of values and resources is in focus, while Mercury retrogrades back into your sign on 26 June. Reconsider what you are willing to give your time to.

Libra

Career and reputation take the spotlight in your tenth house. Mars arrives in your sign on 15 July, adding drive to the second half of the season.

Aquarius

Daily routines fill your sixth house, and Mars moves into your ninth on 15 July. Simplify one routine so there is energy left for something new.

Questions worth bringing to an In-Depth Reading

A seasonal overview can only go so far. An In-Depth Reading is a sixty-minute session on Google Meet or WhatsApp that looks at your full birth chart and the transits running through it, so the conversation can move from this month to the longer arc of your life. Questions that suit this season include:

Is this the right period to move home, or to change who I live with?
Why do family responsibilities keep falling to me, and what is the chart's view of that pattern?
How do I balance caring for others with building something of my own?

For the wider year, the Cancer horoscope 2027 follows the eclipses and Jupiter's movement month by month.

Frequently asked questions

When is Cancer season 2027 in the UK?

From about 15:11 BST on Monday 21 June 2027 to about 2am BST on Friday 23 July 2027.

Is Mercury retrograde during Cancer season 2027?

Yes, at the start. Mercury is retrograde from 10 June to 4 July 2027, so the first two weeks of the season overlap with it.

When is the New Moon in Cancer in 2027?

On Sunday 4 July 2027 at 04:02 BST, a natural moment to set an intention for home, family or emotional security.

Does Cancer season mean the same thing in Vedic astrology?

Not exactly. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, so the Sun reaches Karka in mid-July. A Vedic reading focuses more on your Moon sign and birth chart than on the Sun's calendar month.
