To ask an astrologer a relationship question well, start from where you are now: single, newly involved, committed, or picking up the pieces. Each stage has its own natural question, and choosing one lets a Vedic reading look closely at your partnership houses and current planetary period instead of skimming across every worry at once.

If one question is already on your mind, the Ask Me a Question service gives you a written insight aligned with your horoscope. If you would like to check first that your question suits it, send us your question through the enquiry form.

Which relationship question to ask an astrologer at your stage

People often arrive with the question they think they should ask rather than the one they actually need answered. Looking at your stage first narrows it quickly.

When you are single and noticing a pattern

The useful question here is rarely "when will I meet someone?". It is closer to "why do I keep choosing people who are unavailable?" or "what do I need from a partner that I keep overlooking?". These turn the reading towards your own tendencies, which your chart can genuinely speak to.

When something new has begun

Early on, the temptation is to ask whether this is "the one". A better single question is about pace and trust: "I tend to rush into closeness. What does my chart suggest about how I should approach this new connection?" If both of you want the two charts compared, that is a different service, covered below.

When you are committed and something has shifted

Long relationships change shape. Distance, arguments that repeat, or a sense of drifting are common reasons to write in. Frame it around your part and your timing: "We have become distant over the past year. Is this a period in my chart that asks me to look at what I need, and how can I bring that into the relationship?"

If family expectations are part of the question

For many British Asian families, a relationship question also involves parents, community and the question of marriage itself. Say so openly. A question such as "my family hopes I will marry soon, but I feel unready; what does my chart suggest about my own timing for commitment?" is entirely fair to ask.

When a relationship has ended or paused

After a break-up, the question that helps most is usually about learning and readiness, not about whether the other person will return. "What was this relationship showing me, and what do I need before I open up again?" gives the reading something meaningful to work with.

What your chart can speak to in a relationship question

In Vedic astrology, several parts of a birth chart are traditionally read for partnership. Knowing them helps you see why some questions land better than others.

The 7th house describes committed partnership: what you seek in a partner and how you meet them. The guide to the 7th house in Vedic astrology explains this in more depth.
Venus (Shukra) speaks to affection, attraction and what you find beautiful in another person.
The Moon reflects your emotional needs and how you feel safe with someone.
The navamsa (D9), a divisional chart, is traditionally examined alongside the main chart for marriage and long-term bonds.
Your current dasha, the planetary period you are moving through, colours the themes that feel loudest in your relationships right now.

All of this is read from your own birth details, which is why questions about your patterns, needs and timing give the richest reply.

Questions a chart cannot fairly answer

Some relationship questions sit outside what an honest reading can offer, and it saves disappointment to know which before you write.

Your chart cannot reveal what another person privately thinks or feels, nor promise that someone will come back, propose or stay. Questions about a third person's intentions are better reshaped around your own response to the situation. Matters of health, fertility or legal processes such as divorce belong with the right professional. A reading offers guidance and reflection; it cannot promise how a relationship will turn out.

One written question or a two-chart reading?

Ask Me a Question is designed for one personal question read against your own horoscope, with the reply written so you can return to it when emotions settle. It suits a question about you and your part in a relationship.

If you and a partner both want to understand how your charts work together, the Compatibility Reading looks at strengths, challenges and communication between two people, for love or business. For a wider look at relationships alongside career and personal growth, the 60-minute In-Depth Reading gives room to talk it through over Google Meet or WhatsApp.

Writing it down before you send it

Write the question as it first comes to you, however messy.
Underline the part that is really about you: your choices, your hesitation, your needs.
Rewrite it as one or two sentences built around that part.
Add a line of context: how long, what changed, and why you are asking now.
Check your date, time and place of birth are as accurate as you can make them.

If the rewrite still contains two separate questions, pick the one that would ease the other if it became clearer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ask about my partner rather than myself?

You can describe your partner and the relationship as fully as you like. The reply reads your chart, so it focuses on your experience, your choices and your timing within that relationship rather than on claims about the other person.

Do I need my partner's birth details for one question?

No. A single question is read against your own horoscope. A two-chart comparison is what the Compatibility Reading is for, and that uses both sets of details.

Will the reply tell me whether we will stay together?

It will not give a fixed verdict. It reflects on the patterns and the period your chart shows, so you can make your own decision with clearer eyes.

Is it all right to ask about a relationship my family does not know about?

Yes. You choose what context to share, and a question about your own feelings and timing can be asked without naming anyone.
