If you want to ask an astrologer about relocating, begin by naming the exact move: another UK city, a return to family abroad, or a move someone else is asking you to make. A single, specific question lets a Vedic reading look at the houses of home and distance in your chart, and at the period you are in, rather than guessing at every possible future.

For one question about a move, the Ask Me a Question service gives you a written insight aligned with your horoscope. If you are unsure whether your situation suits one question, send us your question through the enquiry form and ask.

Name the move before you ask an astrologer about relocating

"Should I move?" can mean very different things. The clearer you are about which move you mean, the more precise the reply can be.

A move within the UK

A new job in Manchester, a return to Leicester to be near parents, or leaving London for somewhere quieter. These are often about work, belonging or a new chapter. Say which pull is strongest, because a move for a role and a move for family draw on different parts of the chart.

A move abroad, or back to where your family began

Many British Indian and South Asian families weigh a return to India, or a move to join relatives in another country. These questions carry heritage, duty and identity as well as logistics. For a longer settled move overseas, the guide to foreign settlement astrology explains how a chart is traditionally read for living abroad.

A move you are being asked to make

Sometimes the decision belongs partly to someone else: a partner's transfer, an elderly parent who needs you nearby. Here the honest question is often about you within that change: "My partner's job is moving north. What does my chart suggest about how I can settle and keep my own sense of direction?"

Which parts of your chart a relocation question touches

Vedic astrology does not read a move from one placement. A few areas of the birth chart are traditionally considered together.

The 4th house: home, roots and contentment

The 4th house describes your home, your sense of security and your connection to family and roots. When a move is on your mind, this is usually the first area an astrologer looks at, because it speaks to whether you feel settled and what "home" means to you.

The 9th and 12th houses: distance and foreign lands

The 9th house is associated with long journeys, higher learning and life direction, while the 12th house is traditionally linked with foreign lands, distant places and letting go of what is familiar. The 3rd house, by contrast, covers shorter journeys and nearby moves.

Where Rahu fits

Rahu, the north node of the Moon, is often associated with foreign cultures and unconventional paths. Its placement, and whether you are in a Rahu period, can be part of how a question about living abroad is read. The guide to the Rahu and Ketu axis covers this in more detail.

Your current period and transits

Your Vimshottari dasha, the planetary period you are living through, and the transits of slower planets such as Saturn and Jupiter, add the timing layer. They help a reading reflect on whether this feels like a season of putting down roots or of change.

Turning "should I move?" into a question you can send

Here are a few ways a vague relocation worry can be reshaped:

"Is moving a good idea?" becomes "I have been offered a role in Bristol that means leaving my friends in Birmingham. Does my chart suggest this is a supportive period to relocate for work?"
"Should we go back to India?" becomes "My family is considering returning to Gujarat. What does my chart suggest about my own sense of home during this period?"
"Why can I never settle?" becomes "I have moved four times in six years. What in my chart speaks to this restlessness, and what would help me feel rooted?"

Each one names the move, the reason and your place within it, which is what makes it answerable.

What a relocation question cannot settle

A reading reflects on your timing and tendencies; it does not choose a property, judge a neighbourhood or name a "lucky" city. Questions about visas, tenancy agreements, mortgages, school places or tax belong with the right advisers, as legal and financial matters fall outside astrology. You may also come across Western astrocartography, which maps planetary lines across the globe. A Vedic reading works differently, from the houses and periods of your own birth chart.

After you decide: the date and the new home

Once a move is decided, two further services can help. Magic of Lucky Dates & Times looks for an auspicious date and time, or muhurta, for moving home or starting somewhere new. When you have the keys, the 45-minute Energy at Home / New Home reading combines your home's horoscope with Vedic astrology, Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui to help the new space feel right. Ask Me a Question is the place to begin while the move is still a question.

Frequently asked questions

Can a reading tell me which city to move to?

No. It reflects on your timing and your relationship with home and change rather than naming a destination. The choice of place stays with you.

Should I ask about the move or the moving date first?

Usually the move itself. Once you know you are going, choosing a date is a separate question, and it is better asked when the practical dates are clearer.

Our whole family is moving. Whose chart is read?

A single question is read against the chart of the person asking. Each family member has their own timing, so if several of you want guidance, each person's question is best asked separately.

Does it matter that I was born outside the UK?

Not at all. The chart uses your date, time and place of birth wherever that was, so simply give your birthplace as accurately as you can.

When you can describe the move, your reason for it and your part in it in a couple of sentences, book Ask Me a Question for a written insight, or get in touch through the enquiry form if your move involves several questions and you would like help choosing the right reading.
