Aquarius season 2027 begins when the Sun enters Aquarius at about 7.30am GMT on Wednesday 20 January and ends on the evening of Thursday 18 February, when it moves into Pisces. Its centrepiece is an annular solar eclipse in Aquarius on 6 February, with Mars retrograde throughout and Mercury turning retrograde in the final ten days.

When Aquarius season 2027 begins and ends (UK time)

The Sun enters Aquarius on 20 January 2027 at about 07:29 GMT and leaves for Pisces on 18 February at about 21:33 GMT. Some calendars print 19 February as the first day of Pisces season, but in the UK the change happens on the evening of the 18th. In the sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology, the Sun is still in Capricorn for most of this period, which is one reason Vedic and Western monthly guidance can read differently.

Key dates of Aquarius season 2027

20 January: the Sun enters Aquarius. Mars has been retrograde in Virgo since 10 January, and Jupiter is retrograde in Leo.
22 January: Full Moon in Leo, across the Leo and Aquarius axis that the year's eclipses keep returning to.
25 January: the Sun meets Pluto in Aquarius, a prompt to notice where you give away or claim your own authority.
6 February: annular solar eclipse at about 17 degrees Aquarius, on the same day as Chinese New Year. It is visible from parts of South America and West Africa, not from the UK.
8 February: Uranus, the modern ruler of Aquarius, turns direct in Gemini.
9 February: Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces.
18 February: Mercury slips back into Aquarius, and that evening the Sun enters Pisces.

With Mars and Jupiter retrograde throughout, Mercury joining them on 9 February and an eclipse midway, this is a season for experiments and honest reviews rather than irreversible launches. Our Mercury retrograde guides cover the February cycle in more depth.

Cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn

Aries

The Sun and the eclipse fall in your sector of friendships, groups and long-range hopes. A network or circle you belong to may change shape. With Saturn in your own sign, take on only the group commitments you can genuinely honour, and notice which friendships energise you and which now run on habit.

Cancer

Aquarius season lights up your house of trust, intimacy and what you share with others. The eclipse invites you to release an obligation that no longer fits and to talk openly about how time, space and responsibilities are divided.

Libra

This is a playful month for you, centred on creativity, romance and enjoyment. The eclipse in your fifth house can spark a new idea or hobby. Saturn opposite your sign reminds you that close partnerships still need candour.

Capricorn

After your birthday season, attention turns to self-worth and what you value. The eclipse suits a reset of priorities, while your ruler Saturn, in Aries, keeps part of your mind on home and family.

Fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius

Taurus

Career and public direction take the spotlight, and the eclipse at the top of your solar chart can clarify a professional goal. With Mercury retrograde from 9 February, draft and discuss before you announce. A conversation with a manager or mentor may land better after 3 March, once Mercury turns direct.

Leo

The Full Moon in your sign on 22 January and the eclipse in your opposite sign bring partnerships into sharp focus. Jupiter, retrograde in Leo, asks you to review how you have grown since last summer.

Scorpio

Home, family and your sense of belonging are emphasised. The eclipse may bring a change in living arrangements or family roles into view, while Mars retrograde in Virgo asks for patience with friends.

Aquarius

This is your season, and an unusually charged one. The Sun meets Pluto in your sign on 25 January, and the solar eclipse in Aquarius follows on 6 February, together marking a personal reset.

If your birthday falls near 6 February

Your solar return coincides with an eclipse this year, often a sign of a reinventing year ahead. Give yourself time before making big announcements.

Mutable signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces

Gemini

Study, travel and your wider beliefs come forward. Uranus turns direct in your sign on 8 February, and plans for a course or journey may take a new direction after the eclipse.

Virgo

Mars is retrograde in your sign throughout the season, so pace yourself. The Aquarius Sun highlights daily routines; streamline them rather than overhauling everything at once. If old frustrations resurface, channel them into finishing tasks rather than starting new ones.

Sagittarius

Conversations, siblings and local life speed up, and the eclipse may change how you learn or communicate. Your ruler, Jupiter, is retrograde in Leo, so revisit a postponed plan before starting another.

Pisces

This is the quiet month before your birthday. The eclipse in your twelfth house suits closing a chapter privately, and Mercury turns retrograde in your sign on 9 February.

Taking Aquarius season further

Sun-sign guidance is an outline. Your Moon sign, rising sign and the houses where Aquarius and Leo fall in your chart change the emphasis considerably.
